Acoustical Insulation and Soundproofing Applications

Controlling sound and noise transmission through walls, ceilings, and floors can be a challenge in designing and building a project. The insulation products we use contain fibers that absorb sound energy instead of reflecting it. This reduces reverberation time and makes speech and music more intelligible while eliminating unwanted background noise. Our applications greatly improve ambient sound quality in a wide variety of building projects including auditoriums, sports facilities, televisions and sound stages, convention halls, and parking garages.

All of our work is fully warranted and our technicians are highly trained in the latest methods. Our reputation has earned us the trust of customers such as:

  • NRG Center
  • Laurenzo’s Grille
  • The Houston Astrodome
  • George R. Brown Convention Center
  • Our Lady of Lourdes Church
  • Kay Yaeger Coliseum
  • Channel 11 (KHOU) Studios
  • Tiny Boxwood’s
  • Local Foods – Gables
  • Vietnamese Redemptorist Mission Church

We use a variety of installation methods depending on the acoustical and aesthetic properties our customer is looking to achieve. The spray-on acoustical products we use vary in fiber size and are sprayed onto surfaces (ceilings and walls) with a binding agent to create different surface textures. The products we use are shown below.

SonaKrete® Premium Acoustical Finish

SonaKrete® is a premium acoustical finish product. Noise reduction of up to 75% can easily be achieved with a smooth plaster-like appearance. SonaKrete® is used primarily where drywall, plaster, brown coat, or any other smooth surface is present or will be installed.

SonaKrete® is installed through a select group of licensed applicators. These applicators are required to install SonaKrete® using approved equipment, materials, and procedures. The surfaces where SonaKrete® will be applied are to be inspected prior to installation to determine if pre-treatment is required. Due to the inherent texture of the material and application techniques, the installed material will have thickness variances. Compliance with applicable building codes and project requirements is the responsibility of the user and/or installing applicator.

SonaSpray® “fc” Acoustical Finish

SonaSpray® is a spray-applied acoustical texture designed for a wide range of project types. SonaSpray® provides an attractive, high-performance solution to acoustical and lighting design objectives in both new construction and renovation projects. A typical installation includes school, churches, auditoriums, passenger terminals, libraries, detention facilities, cafeterias, offices, hotels, and condominiums.

K-13® Spray-On System

K-13® insulation is the spray-applied cellulose insulation tailored to your specific project requirements for insulation (R-Value), noise reduction (NRC), color, durability, condensation control, texture, and aesthetics. In addition, it usually provides these features at lower installed prices than many common systems such as rigid board and batt insulations, sprayed plasters, and acoustical ceilings. It is applied to virtually any properly prepared surface configuration of wood, steel, concrete, glass and other common construction surfaces. K-13® can be sprayed up to five inches thick overhead in one application without mechanical support. Additionally, K-13® serves as the exposed finish requiring no additional materials.

Celbar® Insulation

Celbar® is a blend of specially prepared cellulose fibers, organic in nature, treated with adhesive and fire resistant chemicals. When sprayed in place, the interlocking fibers result in a mass that produces excellent sound and thermal properties.

Celbar® is pneumatically spray-applied in wall and floor/ceiling cavities to form a monolithic coating. This process seals cracks and holes in the wallboard, around plumbing and electrical outlets, vent ducts and other irregularities. There are no compressed areas or voids to allow sound leaks, R-Value reduction, or air infiltration.
